No much time to write, but wanted to share how honoured and blessed I feel…
After a long trip yesterday (buses, ferry, waiting for bus 99 to Shawnigan in Victoria…two backpacks), I finally arrived to O.U.R. Ecovillage and met eight new interns who are just starting their homesteading internship (they’ll stay here for eight months, working and sharing, learning about sustainable farming, natural building and systems…and the little pieces from humanure composting to canning.
Taking to almost each one of them I cannot but be absolutely grateful to this path I’ve chosen in my aging years: to be part of this, to see the emerging of this amazing response coming from all the corners of the world: people from Hong Kong to France, from those living in townhouses’ “regular lives” to those more radical: all are wonderful, young and promising. They may or may not know it, but they all are Gaia’s children trying to turn the ship away from the iceberg…whether it is too late or too complicated is not even in their radar: what matters is what you do with the rest of your life: I’m learning as much from them as they may learn from me…and sometimes I feel I am the one learning the most!
One of these beautiful souls attended a short intro to Permaculture I run last summer at the grassroots yoga festival. She shared that she ended up here at this internship after attending that presentation and realizing that Permaculture was much more than sustainable gardening…
I’m trying hard to not to sound as a preacher…but I can’t help it. Since I chose this path, only wonderful things have happened…I’ve met the most interesting and caring people, and have been invited to their projects and their dreams.
I don’t know if “my side” is better. I don’t have any “formulas”, any “solutions” or any “answers”…but I can tell that this feels right…
